From time to time, the Luxemburg caving club “GSL†organizes some initiation training into caving.

These trainings are designed for beginners who have had no experience of caving what so ever but who want to experience the thrills of speleology.

The aim is to allow participants to acquire the basic practical and theoretical knowledge to progress safely in caves using “alpine speleology techniquesâ€, which is nowadays a standard in caving techniques.

The last initiation stage took place in april/may 2005. It consisted in two theoretical sessions dealing with personal and collective equipment, caving gear, ropes, knots, basic
equipment theory, progression theory, some basic facts about cave formation and the necessary knowledge about safety rules, and three practical trainings on the cliffs outside the 'Grotte de la Vierge' in the region of the 'Müllertall', as well as inside it when the technique was basically mastered.

During the three trainings the new cavers to overcome gradually raising difficulties. The hard practice will be rewarded by several trips into bigger caves soon.
